Guild Looting Rules for Raids

Section 1: Why do we need these rules?

Until very recently we used Free For All as our general looting system and it worked fairly well except for one flaw… time. As we had items drop we had to stand around for a period of time and decide who got what and/or random on said item. This worked fine as we are all adults and I know no one is going to just grab things but it slowed us down considerably making the raid a longer and more drawn out affair. That is why I am implementing the Group Loot option with the rules for it listed below. It should allow us to move through more effectively and cut raid time down considerably.

Section 2: Lockboxes and Chests

All lockboxes should go to a rogue or a blacksmith if they have a key capable of opening it and all chests should be standard looted or unlocked and inspected by the people mentioned above. Items within of the green or higher threshold should then be announced in the raid channel. If its something you will equip then you are expected to speak up at this point. If noone speaks up the raid as a whole will do a /random to see who gets the item. If the item is BoP and no one needs then the guild enchanters will roll off if needed to see who gets the item for a disenchant.

Section 3: Bind On Equip Green Quality and Above (class armor excluded)

On BoE items everyone will have the opportunity to roll. If the item is an upgrade to what you are currently wearing then you will be expected to hit the need button when you are rolling. If the item is something you would like to sell in the auction house or disenchant you are expected to hit the greed button. If you accidentally hit greed on a need roll on these items speak up so we can make sure the item goes to whomever may have need of it.

Section 4: Bind on Pickup (class armor excluded)

On BoP items we will be using a similar system to the one listed above except that only enchanters and those in need will be rolling. If it’s something you will equip and is an upgrade you will be hitting the need button. Enchanters will then roll the greed option on the item. This should allow for everyone that we would normally assign this type of item to will get a chance at it. If no enchanter is on the raid, then everyone should roll greed for vendor loot.

Section 5: Class Armor Sets

Class armor sets that we currently have access to are listed below, along with the primary recipient class.

Shadowcraft: Rogue
Elements: Shaman
Valor: Warrior
Dreadmist: Warlock
Wildheart: Druid
Devout: Priest
Beaststalker: Hunter
Magister: Mage

When class armor drops, our normal rules apply except for the following:

  1. The primary class (who the class set is designed for) has first choice to claim need. If at least one needs the armor, then the others should pass.

  2. Other players who view the armor as an upgrade should wait until all primary class players declare if they need it or not. If no primary class needs it, then roll according to the normal rules.
